HI CORBETT FIELD

Hi Corbett Field.JPG

Hi Corbett Field was originally built in 1927. The field has operated under numerous names including City Ball Park, Randolph Baseball Park, Tucson Baseball Park and Municipal Baseball Park. The ballpark is located in Central Tucson and is part of Randolph and Reid parks. In 1951 the field was renamed Hi Corbett Field in honor of Hiram Stevens Corbett, a baseball pioneer of Tucson.

The stadium is currently one of the oldest in the Cactus League and it has seen numerous changes including a remodeling in 1972, and three renovations, (1992, 1997, 1999).

Hi Corbett Field has a capacity of 9500, which includes handicap accessible seating, and handicap parking stalls. Parking at Hi Corbett Field is free of charge for all Tucson Toros games, and includes a VIP section for season ticket holders.

The field surface at Hi Corbett Field is real grass with outfield dimensions of 366 feet to leftfield, 392 feet to centerfield and 348 feet to right field.

As the Tucson Toros make their return to professional baseball in 2009, they will share Hi Corbett Field with the Colorado Rockies of Major League Baseball. The Rockies have used Hi Corbett Field for spring training since their inaugural preseason of 1993.

Prior to the Rockies, the Cleveland Indians used Hi Corbett Field for their preseason action, beginning in 1945.

The Toros will be the fourth minor league team to call Hi Corbett Field home as the Tucson Lizards, (Class D, Arizona/Texas League), Tucson Cowboys, (Class C, Arizona/Texas league), and the original Tucson Toros, (Class AAA, Pacific Coast League) played seasons in the ballpark.

Located in beautiful Southern Arizona, Hi Corbett Field is 100 miles south of Phoenix and 60 miles north of the Mexican Border. As Tucson is a rapidly growing city that has reached nearly 1 million people, the surrounding area has plenty to offer to all visitors.
