Jay S. Zucker

President/CEO

Jay S. Zucker was born and raised in Tucson, AZ currently President/CEO of Tucson Toros Professional Baseball Organization. As previous owner of the Tucson Sidewinders professional baseball franchise through 2008, Class Triple A affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks. Jay’s mission is to provide quality professional sports and family entertainment to the Tucson community. In 2006 the Tucson Sidewinders won the Pacific Coast League Championship and the Triple A Championship earning the recognition as the best team in all of Minor League Baseball.

An entrepreneur at heart, Jay leads and directs several enterprises from his midtown Tucson office: entities include Security Services, providing security surveillance for Tucson alarm companies; El Encanto Partners, a real estate development firm; Toros Clubhouse Fitness, a fitness center & gym; and Western Showcase which owns and operates the Maverick Night Club, an upscale live country music venue.

In 1975 Jay’s career began in radio broadcasting in Tucson while attending the University of Arizona. Following nearly a decade of radio station management roles in Phoenix, Tucson, and Las Vegas, Jay and his wife Melinda created and developed Telemundo television stations in Tucson and Phoenix. In 1999, Disney acquired the Telemundo stations and Jay rolled his investment into the purchase of the Tucson Sidewinders. The business of baseball was a natural transition, as Executive Producer and Spanish TV rights holder for the Arizona Diamondbacks; Jay’s organization produced over 70 live MLB baseball games.

Jay was the recipient of the 2003 Silver Medal Award presented by the Tucson Advertising Federation for outstanding community leadership. In October 2005, Jay received the Copper Cactus Community Service Business of the year Award. Jay is an active member of the Tucson Rotary Club, as well as an active member of the DM-50 and an “Honorary Squadron Commander” for the 563rd MXS Davis-Monthan Air Force Base. Former Arizona State Governor Janet Nepolitano appointed Jay to serve as Commissioner for the former Arizona Baseball & Softball Commission. Jay is licensed as a Professional Boxing Promoter by the State of Arizona and by the Indian Gaming Commission. Additionally Jay is licensed by the Arizona Liquor Control Board, and is a graduate of the FBI Citizens Academy.

Jay serves on numerous local community boards and supports over 200 Tucson non-profits through his Tucson Toros Organization.

Jay and Melinda share a deep commitment to our community and are proud parents of five daughters and three granddaughters.
